I threw out an analogy a while back and didn't get any feedback or
anything, but it seems to me to encapsulate exactly what you're saying.
Mind if I try again?

Morality is the continuum or a line and Good is the direction ON the line.

Analogous to Time is a line, and "later" is a direction on the line.

Does this make as much sense to others as it does to me? I'd hate to have
to unilaterally adopt my own understanding!

I'll say it again in a slightly different way - morality is a dimension and
good is a direction.

Am I on the right track or not?
