Greetings,
First point is to reiterate once again that I do agree there is a subject object dichotomy, but
emphasise that this is not a metaphysical position. It may be a psychological phenomena but that is
clearly not the same thing. Still, to use, 'A subject object metaphysics says that,' in the way
Pirsig does is no better than saying, 'Another way of thinking is.' Totally vague, it avoids having
to challenge anything, or anyone, head on and enables Pirsig to answer every perceived problem in
the entirety of Western philosophy with the full intention of seducing the reader into believing
that it is all one amorphous mass of almost identical thought. It isn't and the SO split is rarely a
major factor in the metaphysical assumptions of those philosophies.

To your question Jonathan, (Struan, do I take it that you will agree to including emotion and
intuition as part of your "X"?), the answer is, 'in the sense I think you mean, yes.'

Platt, I love you and I want to have your babies. I consider that posting a personal triumph and
thank you for it from the heart of my bottom.
As Nietzsche once said, "The search for the truth is over, long live the search for the false." This
nonsense is false and your wildly absurd protestations simply show that you know it too. I can see
why it might hurt. Your spurious, absurd and vulgar arguments against the most widespread free will
position in science today ( and please don't insult my intelligence by claiming that you believe
them for one minute) clearly aren't the real reasons for your conclusion that I am a trickster.
If you would put any sensible refutations to me I will answer them and give you more evidence for
that position as required. Lets at least keep our sense of dignity in argument Platt, that was
merely sad.
Struan
