Okay, so i go away from this forum for a few days and i come back to
12 new messages. the vast majority of them being flaming sessions
between denis and straun. you two seem to be so intent on arguing
about "how" each other present their argument, that you don't seem to
actually address each other's points. Do either of you really want
the other to understand your position? If the answer is "yes" - try
understanding their position first. if the answer is "no," then it
seems like you'rer just interested in bashing each other. NOTE - i
haven't bashed either of you in this post. or if i did, it was not my
intention, and i apologize. it just gets very old hearing y'all rant
against each other - there's a fair amount of misinterpretation on
both sides and more than enough name calling.

now - on to other thoughts.....a while ago i asked the question about
whether or not it mattered if we had free will. that part of the
quote was re-posted and used to present that if there is no free will,
then there can be no morality. when i asked the question, i stated
that if there is no free will, then the consequences we assign to
someone for their act also lack free will. doesn't mean there aren't
any consequences.i liked the post that brought up the greeks (i forget
who posted it, so won't assign credit - lest i offend someone)

as to "self" - here's a thought to consider....try on the word
identity for the word self in many of the previous posts. i believe
there's an "identity" we all call self, but that is not the "self" -
identity is all the things we use to show who we are or hide who we
are to other people....attitudes, clothes, cars, etc, etc, etc.....
the self (in my world) is the spiritual center of a person -
undefinable (hmmm....what else was there that was
undefiniable....hmmmm?) this concept may offend those who do not
think they have a spiritual "self" - if it doies - consider this: we
only react to that which we believe in or that threatens us.

well...i goota run. please, please pleeeeaase......keep the posts of
high quality.

oh, DMB - you are like a god. your clarification of metaphor versus
analogy, etc, was clear, concise and did not flame those who were
using the terms incorrectly - merely pointed out the actual meaning -
bravo. kudos.
