JON:
....They ask questions like, "Does a dog have Morality?" And they become
> incredulous when I answer, "Yes, dogs have Morality. So do individual
cells."
RICK:
I believe the MoQ answer to this question is not that dogs and cells have
morality... rather that Morality has dogs and cells.... (see chapter 11, pg
159---- ....It isn't that Lila has Quality; it's Quality that has Lila.
Nothing can have Quality. To have something is to possess it, and to
possess something is to dominate it. Nothing dominates Quality....."
JON:

RICK:
You write this as if you believe that they would be persuaded by concrete
reasons and definitions.... I promise you they won't. Your best shot is to
get them to read the book. My own experience teaches me that trying to
explain the MoQ to someone who hasn't read LILA is always doomed to failure.
Attempts to do this usually wind up reducing RMP's ideas to the intellectual
sideshow that he tries so hard to avoid.

RICK:
Screw Pirsig on this one... just keep quoting Einstein (nobody argues with
Einstein)----Along with the wonderfuil quote you included in your post I'll
add that he said, "Imagination is more important than knowledge." ----
Imagination and intuition are on intimate terms.
JON:
Not ALL aspects of reality can conform to the tool
> of reason.
RICK:
Absolutely.... Reason is only useful for what "IS".... it has very little to
say about what "OUGHT" to be.... which is why reason is pretty much useless
for deciding matters of value and morality...
