some good posts on that topic. It might be that we underestimate
subjectivity in this, though. i have to admit that on more than one
occasion, I've read a past paper, or indeed a past post (of my own), and
realised that what had seemed so clear and obvious to me when I happened to
be completely immersed in a subject, seems impenetrable at another time. In
fact, apart from David (Prince)'s examples of when people are trying not to
communicate, or are actually trying to communicate something else entirely
(usually "status transactions"), I think there are many examples of good old
incompetance, which may have nothing to do with malevolent intent!
