So you're saying, (1) An intellectual metaphor should be judged by its
confomance to current (well accepted?) theories, experience (external
validity?) and itself (internal coherence?). And (2) The MoQ is an
Intellectual metaphor and so should be judged according to these same
criteria.
If I understand you correctly, then Yes, I agree. Of course, I can't think
of any other criteria on which one might judge a theory.
DAN:
My response to this is buried in my other post, but for the sake of clarity
I
really should add that the MOQ reflects the road quite well.
RICK:
Ultimately, I too believe that the MoQ reflects reality pretty well...
However, I say that with great aprehension because sometimes it is
tremendously difficult to discern what is and is not the MoQ. Like I said
in a recent post, even the members of this forum often have great difficulty
agreeing on the specfics of the system.
DAN:
If the MOQ was inconsistent with my experience, or with math or quantum
physics or
evolution or with the better sociological or economic theories, then I see
this as a problem. Good ideas and theories often complement each other, and
rarely contradict.
RICK:
Yes... good ideas should hang together. But it's more tricky in this case.
Does the MoQ actually "compliment" the theories you name??? I'm not sure,
actually I think it merely contains them. You recognize the validity of
physics, the MoQ contains physics, so you agree with the MoQ. You recognize
the validity of Math, the MoQ contains Math, so you agree with the MoQ...
etc. The problem is that the MoQ is a description that contains other
descriptions and sometimes it's hard to seperate the substance of the MoQ
itself from that which it contains. In fact, the MoQ actually contains all
theories as Intellectual patterns... so no matter what you believe in, the
MoQ could be said, in a sense, to "compliment" those beliefs.
All is Good,
Rick
