E,
wonderful example of mis-reading, you make assumptions opposite to what is
intended! cool!
I have no interest in Plato -- burn him, he is no longer 'of value', start
again based on the recursive what/where distinction-making in the neurology
and see what you get...
What you get is a set of FEELINGS that belong to the meaning-generator of a
METHOD of analysis - namely recursive dichotomisations. This method is a
CLOSED system and seems to work along the lines of resonance. It is
fundamentally a GENERAL system, like a set of symbols and a grammar but no
PARTICULAR context to use them. Particularisation asserts a context and so
symbols and grammar are applied to create metaphors to describe what/where
interactions.
To Plato's credit he picked up on the concept that education is the process
of remembering what we already know, IOW the application of the GENERAL
what/where distinctions in PARTICULAR contexts means that all of the
contexts are DIFFERENT expressions for the SAME underlying patterns of
meaning; thus each discipline has its lexicon that makes the discipline
different and as such learning the lexicon is 'remembering what we already
know' but in a different context.
We can create a BETTER mapping of ourselves and our futures if we put
history where it belongs -- behind us in that our reflections on historical
figures are reflections on mindsets that lacked the knowledge we have re
neurology/psychology and evolution (which BTW allows for ANY belief system
as long as it works! delusion/illusion is permissable and acts to create
social forces etc).
Such concepts as Art, Poetry, Music etc can span generations since these
concepts favour expressions based on feelings that never change generally.
They create resonances but can lack a ground such that they are all richly
interpreted.
Knowledge/Technology is an ongoing process where each year we need to
rewrite textbooks and as such we also need to review past interpretations,
throw them out, mark them with a time marker to show they are time dependent
relative to that times pool of knowledge. (General Semantics gets into
this).
There is no need to read Plato or Aristotle etc etc for any reason other
than to get an historical perspective as to the development of ideas; they
are no longer 'fundamentals' since all of the concepts to cover in
metaphysics, i.e. truth etc can be mapped (!) to neurological/psychological
patterns (e.g. the FEELING of truth stemming from territorial mappings and
so concepts of ownership and identity etc etc and EITHER/OR thinking).
The current discoveries in the neurosciences/psychology etc are leading us
to a re-evaluation of our being, our suceptibilites to illusions/delusions,
repressions/suppressions etc etc and that leads to a re-evaluation of
morality, ethics etc etc and so a definite role for a MOQ.
To 'grok' Plato means to go back to ancient greece, put on the same clothes,
speak ancient greek.. what a waste. Fine for a personal 'journey' if you
into that sort of thing but not useful since the mindset is out of date,
TOTALLY ignorant of technologies etc To them we would be a world of magic...
SO, I have NOTHING to say re Plato etc other than to note that the
dichotomisation patterns are in the distinctions of PLATO/ARISTOTLE in that
PLATO was more fundamentalist, into EXPRESSION whereas ARISTOTLE did get
more into the world of ~A and so more into what was BEHIND EXPRESSIONS....
but then Archemedes went futher BEHIND (Pythagoras was more of
fundamentist)... and then came the dark ages where we went REALLY
fundamentalist, the total expressionism period of God etc but slowly the
seekers of what was BEHIND reemerged...and so we see oscillations in A/~A,
not just at millisecond intervals but at second, minute, hours, years,
decades, centuries, etc etc intervals.
SAME general methodology over different scales. Since we now have a GOOD
idea of the METHOD then surely it is easier to get into that, to get to the
point, rather than mill around the point looking at shadows (hmmm... that
sounds familiar...:-))
best,
Chris.
