For the record, I think there is something fundamentally wrong with any
ethics that supports, or remains neutral to the destruction of advanced
complex patterns such as species or ecosystems. Personally, I think we can
"read into" the MOQ that we should support our underlying levels and that
versatility of experience should not be isolated to man. But we shouldn't
have to read it in.
I think Pirsig focuses WAY, WAY too much on conflict and the negative face of
Quality/evolution, and no where near enough on cooperation. I think both
views together (cooperative/competitive) represent reality much better than
one side alone.
