oh i hate credentials

to me legitimacy resides in re-spect
(that is, embracing a willingness to look again)
because philosophy is also a historical discipline
(as pirsig himself indicates by tracing american history
through indian and european values) -
to me this means if someone wishes to add to philosophy,
    to philosophize well,
one must examine past additions
(on whichever subject in question) -

of course, there remains a danger of diminishing dynamicism,
    which is why 'legitimacy' appears a puffed-shirt term;
yet the truth remains (as pirsig's work shows)
that a tradition dominates our thought,
even though we think ourselves original thinkers -

for instance, descartes and kant sound original,
until we see how they were caged
within structures laid down by aristotle,
only nietzsche and heidegger realized this enough
to break free of this greek ontological heritage,
        hence they fathered post-humanism/post-modernity
(whereas satre merely used heidegger's words
to mask his reification of the almighty "I")
