MD roads

Dear Bard,

Given that this "road" of experience has no starting points or end points,
and no particular trajectory, it sounds like you are saying that experience
isn't a road.

Can't say I can disagree with you there. I didn't say that experience was a
road.

As to roads being built by men and women to get from A to B, this does seem,
at first glance, to mean that a road bears a close resemblance to a
*metaphysics* (close enough to serve as an occasional limited metaphor).

No?

Oh well. Once people start discussing the pointing fingers to the exclusion
of the moon, I guess it's time to change the subject.

Good Morning to All!

ELEPHANT WRITES:

"On the other hand a road is a something that starts at A and leads
invariably to B, so that if I stand by the Rubicon and take one road I go
to Rome, and if I take the other I don't."

Inasmuch as the roads built by men and women are designed with a specific
purpose or set of purposes in mind and are intended to provide a predictable
outcome, they in fact have a limited number of coordinates that could be
interchangeably referred to as starting points and ending points. But such
roads represent only institutional abstractions. The roads in question here
are part-and-parcel of pure existence. They define us and we define them.
Where they start or end is of no importance for they have no beginning and
no end in the same way that energy is never created or destroyed. They just
ARE, always, although their constitution is constantly changing. What is
important on these true roads is the experience, never the destination.
