Hi Marco,

> The MOQish is NOT mystic. He does not think that the future is illusion, he just think that in order to attain (a future) Quality, one has to be an artist in the present (remember the motorcycle maintenance).

Now that's strange. As far as I remember, the only difference RMP assumes between himself and a mystic is the attempt to analyze Quality with metaphysical tools. As far as personal ethics goes, I can't remember any single passage in Lila or ZAMM that establishes any substantial difference between a MOQist and a mystic.

Now *if* there is no "official" difference between MOQist and mystic morals, and you claim there is one, you must be expressing a personal belief about one of them. I think you got the mystics wrong. Of course "mystic" is a rather vague term, but eastern philosophies, for example, aren't so simple as you depict them. The taoistic concept of "in-action", for example, is too often misunderstood for "doing nothing" (so the children starve) but ask any serious taoist and you will find it's actually more like "going with the flow", which can also be restated by "doing the right thing here and how". The mystic taoist believes, among other things, that "you are what you do". Acting is of utmost relevance to most of the mystics I know.

For what concerns the rest of your post, I still think we basically agree. I think the passages on motorcycle maintenance, that I forgot to mention while you did, are all that's needed. Remember what he says about small annoyances (a screw that can't be driven off - sorry for my english here, can't find the right terms). These are frustrating annoyances if you're only looking at the future goal, and everything in between is just a (valueless) means. But when you dispose of your rational infrastructure when *evaluating*, you find that your good, here&now, is finding a way to get rid of the screw. This is what is *worth* now.

It can be worth collecting money for a good cause. It can be worth building a hospital. The concept that's ruled out by MOQ is: "i am doing some frustrating, annoying, intrinsically valueless activity of collecting resources in order to do something good in the future".
