Well, I found it at last, after some searching. Perhaps its significant,
in so far as we are giving Pirsig himself authority, to note that
what he first says that **it is not a code**.
A code that is not a code.
The laws that defend dynamic quality against static patterns.
More or less a kind of admonition to keep flowing, and
to beware of intertia of thought and action.
I like something from the beginning of the book where he says that
its all too easy to keep the same set of ideas in one's self
for years and years, letting nothing new in...
The admonition to "guard against" that tendency might be something
like the moral code defening dynamic quality.
Forgive me, but I can't find the quotation about old tea...
