Hi Rasheed,
This dialogue has seemingly moved elsewhere, but I was just re-reading
through the posts and I felt like I ought to respond to a couple of things
in here.
>Pirsig doesnt say that it's moral to fight
> against slavery only because he is a 20th century liberal; within the MOQ,
> ideas have precedence over human beings, ideas being the product of humans
> and human thought.
That works great most of the time, but what happens when an idea proposes
that you do away with certain human beings? I don't need to name examples
from the 20th century, there have been enough incarnations of these ideas

I fail to see how the "cutting edge of reality" can ever get any closer.
Sorry.

Perhaps I shouldn't say this, but I don't think that just because Pirsig
writes something we should automatically take it as the word of God
[Quality]. If your deleted paragraph said the same as the quotation, then it
was probably right to delete it. If it said something different, then surely
it is in the interests of quality that it gets said.

I'm bearing that in mind, I'm just questioning the quality of equating the
two. (or should that be morality of equating the two? ;~))
Simon
ps. that anecdote was one of the few things I remembered from my lectures.
But I guess we have sheep-shagging jokes here like you have red-neck jokes
in the states.
