Jonathan:
Actually the Bill of Rights is quite vague when it comes to addressing the
right to bear arms. And I'm pretty certain that it doesn't even address the
individuals' right, only those associated with a "militia". The actual
"scope" of the amendment is debatable, vis a vis the actual intent of our
Founding Fathers. Gun rights advocates may very well stretch the actual
intent of the amendment, but that's the way the game is played here. Much
like "freedom of speech", which was intended to allow for full political
discourse, has been stretched by the "left" to mean that I have the absolute
right to display fasified photos of somebody's mother having sex with a dog
as long as I was not being "malicious". I can only answer your queries with
a question - Do you feel safe when you walk your neighborhood at night or lie
down to sleep? - I personally don't, because of some individuals' propensity
toward violent crime and robbery in my vicinity. That's probably another
issue, but my little .22 caliber certainly gives me greater peace of mind.
