Hi Platt,
Thanks for the information on the 'inner gesture'. I have used this several
times with partial success. By this I mean that while the 'overt' voice that
is addressed does in fact fall silent, I find there is a 'meta-voice' that
seems to partly take over. This 'meta-voice' does not have the quality of a
real voice; the best description I can find is 'mentation'.
When I was doing neuroprocessing I noticed that while in the alpha-theta
state, or fully in theta, I was able to formulate a sort of slow thought
process that allowed a modest analysis of what was occurring. I suspect this
is the same level as the 'mentation' I refer to above. If I became more
actively involved in thought, though, my state immediately changed to alpha.
So I definitely discriminate two levels of thought, one of which interferes
with theta brain processes, and is stilled by Benoit's exercise, and the
other which can coexist with theta and which Benoit's exercise is unable to
still for long, at least in my case.
I plan to get a copy of Wilber's book soon. I have appreciated your
constructive comments.
My essay is finally on the Forum. I'd be interested in your reaction.
I'll be away for a week at a Diamond Essence workshop. I'll let you know if
anything interesting happens.
