Technically you are correct. I should have said, "the right to own private
property." Communists/socialists deny individuals the right to own
property as their idea of a perfect world is one where all natural
resources, labor and means of production belong to the state so that in
theory everyone gets an equal share of the pie. The dollar value you
describe only comes into play after an individual's right to own property
has been established or, in the twentieth century, defended by the
blood of millions.
