Ian,

Desiderata? if you mean the same one that's on my wall (a cheap copy of
one supposedly found in old Saint Paul's Church, Baltimore, Dated 1698)
that starts this way:

"Go placidly amid the noise & haste & remember what peace there may be
in silence. Speak your truth quietly & clearly; and listen to others
even the dull & ignorant they too have something to say. As far as
possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Avoid
loud & aggressive persons they are a vexations to the spirit...."

[ and then after several similar sentences ends, ]

"Strive to be happy"

If it's this one that you had in mind and if your first three posts are
any indication, you may want to go back and read between the title
"Desiderata" and the last line. You may have missed something.

And I'll make a note to reread the last three sentence of the first
quote above.

Cheers,3WD
