Hey Dan and 3WD!
DAN:
Thank you for your reply. I have no quarrel with experience as value.
However, I looked on page 419 and I still don't see where Phaedrus says
Dynamic Quality is experience. He states: "It (the MOQ) is a form of
pragmatism...It adds that this good is not a social code or some
intellectualized Hegelian Absolute. It is direct everyday experience."
ROG:
We are back to the old question of what is the difference between Quality as
it was UNdefined in ZMM and DQ as covered in Lila. But let's not go
there.....
I think that I should certainly consider David and your opinions and expand
my point to the broader statement that "Quality is experience" as opposed to
"DQ is experience." I take it you agree with this approach? It may be at
odds with some elements of your final paragraph to 3WD.
DAN:
On page 164 Phaedrus states: "But Dynamic Quality is not structured yet it
is not chaotic."
Without structure there can be no experience. If Dynamic Quality is not
structured I still fail to see how it can be equated with experience other
than at the cutting edge, leaving static quality patterns of value in its
wake which we call experience. I am not sure it is improper to say Dynamic
Quality is experience taken from a certain context but it seems rather
confusing too. At least it confuses me.
ROG:
I am not sure I agree with the "without structure there can be no experience"
line, but again let's not go there....
Substituting the word Quality for DQ as you two suggest should resolve all
the above issues, as it allows experience to be
divided into its Dynamic and flowing edge and the static structures that we
derive from it. Of course this takes us directly to the same general topic
that Elephant and Magnus have been going back and forth on. I am strongly in
the pachyderm's camp on that one.
Thanks for the contributions!
Rog
