Altaf,

Yes, I think you have something there. Even though it becomes
static as we discuss it, the discussion itself may perhaps help us
recognize quality along the way--signs we might miss without
"better" definitions of what we are looking for?

Like your phrase "Traveling is better than arriving..."

I am still way behind most of the people on this list in my
understanding of what Pirsig is saying in either book. What I said
above probably applies to my journey of re-reading his books with
a better eye for understanding. Your comments are appreciated...

Thanks

Billy :

I found your scientific analogy quite interesting (if I may call
it that at all).
Yes, we experience quality while headed towards the goal, but seem
to lose that experience when we reach it.
This happens quite often while travelling. Maybe thats why they
say "sometimes traveling is better than arriving".

Do you feel that participating in this discussion can help us
understand quality better or at least help us recognise it when it
passes us by? Do you think it can help us improve the quality of
our lives to a certain point?
Pirsig atempts to do this in his book to a certain extent.
But I really dont know.

Best regards -Altaf.
