Wim, Jonathan, Ed, Rog and others,
I am an American, in the Marco sense, but in fact I'm also an angry
Norwegian. Angry because in a time when most of the world have been standing
still in respect for the killed Americans and due to the shock that the
terrorist attacks in America gave the western world, Israel have used the
opportunity, when the world have been focused on the World Trade Centre, to
attack the Palestine's without the annoying reactions from the world. I call
this disrespect of the 5000 (+) American victims.
To Wim: Thank you for a very good posting. I agree with most of what you
write. As expected based on earlier post from you. But, I very much would
like to have Bin Laden knocked out of the game. And I think it would change
the world, even if the terrorism would continue unchanged. Prisoned, not
killed, as killing him would make him a martyr, and one more spark in the
hate that is building up against the western culture.
To Jonathan: I would like to write pages and pages about the Israel /
Palestine conflict, and why it definitely should not be a role model for any
other conflicts, including the America versus an unknown terrorist conflict,
but I'm pretty sure we would not agree. But let me assure you: I am ready to
speak out for Jews, Americans, Communists, Palestine's and Afghans, but I
think it will create a even greater evil by bombing the Afghans back to the
"stone age". It would definitely take the Afghans to a biological level,
making them an easy victim for extreme opinions and hate in the process of
building a new social level.
What we need now is to help the Afghans people to develop an intellectual
level based on better ideas.
To Ed: Thank you for noticing the real message in my post.

I agree. Thanks for finding a Pirsig quote on this. (page number ?)

As a creative person, I'm sure you would come up with something better on a
better day. I would guess you would teach them to be good Libertarians, so
they could be free of their extremist leaders and their personal vendetta.
That's my hope to, except from the Libertarianism thing. Although I would
prefer them to be Libertarians than to be what they are today.

PS
I know I'm going to upset some of you (Jonathan, at least) by my first
paragraph, but this is my perspective, and not an insult.

What a lovely argument against libertarianism :-)
Thank you.
