While I agree with you that there is an obvious cultural vacuum in our society, I still think that you are complaining just for the sake of complaining. It's impossible to acheive total bliss in any society, no matter how Dynamic or free. Problems can never completely be extracted from society, and if they are, new ones will promptly take their place. Jung said that it is a given law that the more people collected in a group, the lower the collective intelligence level. Individual thought is stifled and given up to better fit society's thought. So of course you are going to see britney spears all over tv, American Pie 2 taking in millions of dollars, and magazines with endless tips on how to have better orgasms. If you can rise above all that, by all means, go ahead, but you can't call everyone else sad and blind because they don't or can't be like you. Do you have a solution for all this emptiness and misery you see around you? I say the solution is in yourself- just find your own happiness however

you find it, those other people will too.
