I'm familiar with the swatsika image on Hindu and Buddhist temples. Hitler used it to represent a broken cross, and now the western connotation of it is a symbol of oppression and murder. So, when you see a swastika written through the word "Muslim" on a poster calling Muslims "terrorists," what do you take that to mean? A Buddhist symbol of peace and unity? To be perfectly honest, i didn't know that the symbol on the poster was truly a swastika, but it looked very much like one.
And if a plane did crash into the Kabah, I'm sure that the Saudis would declare war on the country that did it. This is because Saudi Arabia is a country run by Islamic law. But comparing that to the destruction of the World Trade center is faulty. The World Trade Center is a steel structure which serves pragmatic commerce purposes. The Kabah (for Muslims) was built by Abraham thousands of years ago, it is the ultimate symbol of Islamic unity to which we turn in prayer five times every day. Of course, the loss of lives is just as horrible regardless of the country. But back to what i was saying, Saudi Arabia is a less Dynamic country. When i went there last summer, the people all wore the same clothes, all the men in robes and turbans, the women covered in black so as not to be seen in public. There's been no feminism movements, no civil wars, none of that. The law is based on the Qu'ran, and the Qu'ran is not to be amended to or changed in any way. That, in my opinion, stifles the Dynamic capacity
of the country. In the US, we are much more knowledgeable of this kind of thing than Saudi Arabia. We know (most of us) that a declaration of war on the country where the terrorists reside would accomplish absolutely nothing. So, while your question was thoughtful, i don't think it has very much application.
