Platt,
I agree that there is some good to Americans foreign policy. And i can see
your point about defending those closer to us. But, you accusing some
countries of being evil because Muslim children danced in the streets at the
US bombings just shows that you are the victim of a biased media. Yasser
Arafat was the first of any world leader to express remorse for what
happened. This should have been the image of Palestine. But instead, the
media chose to focus on the children dancing, just to piss off Americans (and
from the looks of it, i think it worked pretty well). The kids don't know
any better, they are taught to hate the US. I bet there were people in this
country who were glad to see the WTC bombed, but did the media run up to them
with a camera and choose them to represent the US stance? The same goes for
many other countries.
The worst violation of human rights since the Holocaust, i believe, is taking
place in Tibet right now, but we have done nothing.. Monks and nuns have
been removed from their homeland, their monasteries burned, their land used
for toxic waste dumping and nuclear weapons testing.... These are a peaceful
people who know nothing of war, and yet have become the victims of violence
by the Chinese, and have been given no assistance from the US.
And i can't understand these accusations of you and others of people like
Jeremy and I being supportive of terrorists and demagogues. My post may
have been a little unclear, but do you honestly think i support sadaam? Do
you think i would support someone who surrounded his fortresses with children
and women when they were to be bombed by the US? Could you look me in the
face and say that? What i was trying to say in my last post was that i
think if we didn't have oil interests in the middle east, the US would not
have cared if sadaam was exterminating the Kurds and invading Kuwait. Your
sarcasm is not appreciated and i advise you in the future to moderate
yourself in your accusations. An apology would be well in order.
Rasheed
