I'm not proposing, I'm just calling it what it is. It is a continuation
of an ongoing conflict which has waxed and wained for 2000 years between
the decendants and converts of the three tribes of Abraham. And they
each share equal responsibility for its consequences. Each of these
tribes has done their share of good and each has done their share of
evil. But in the end, if we wish human wars of this kind to end forever,
it must be acknowledged that if each tribe clings unwaveringly to
particular tenets, absolute, revealed, GOD GIVEN, CONFLICTING!, static
patterns of value; that each tribe will defend to the death, then this
"holy war" will continue. Because the fight goes on as long as each side
is programming warriors, exulting their virtues, and promoting values
that support them.

You claim it's just,

> a few crazy bastards

I agree.

War is alway just a few crazy bastards who wield the knife, but its the
overlying static social and intellectual patterns that makes the steel,
forges the point, whets the edge, and blesses its blood.

I think Horse, though he has not specifically said it, makes the point
that while "kill or be killed" is a biological value (good and neccesary
at its level) the failure of humans to "limit" or "control" it is a
social problem. So while "killing" does on an individual basis "destroy"
that particular biological "problem", it may not, and probably will not,
do what is necessary on the social and intellectual levels.
