Jae,
My parents are from India, but I was born and raised in the US. I don't have
family in Israel, but I do have family in other Middle Eastern areas.
However, even if I didn't have religious ties to the area, I would still be
very concerned and affected.
I also believe that history is important in understanding present day
conflict. But you have to realize that you basically called me a moron for
associating Christiainity and Islam with peace. When I think of
Christianity, I think of the message of Jesus Christ. When I think of Islam,
I think of the message of Muhammad. You may connotate these terms with
violence commited in their names in the past, but I don't. You do not have
the right to call me ignorant because of that and I advise you to moderate
yourself in future posts.
I believe that most of the violence was the result of twisting the truth of
these messages. In Islam, a convert must willfully accept Islam to be
converted and it is unlawful to force beliefs upon anyone who does not want
to believe. I'm not positive about Christianity, but I'm pretty sure it's
the same deal there. So, yes, there has been violence in the name of God,
violence because one group of people think they are chosen by God and the
others were not. I believe humans are the cause for own suffering, not
religion. I refer to the Qu'ran, verse 48:16:
We did not separate you into Nations and Tribes
So that ye would dispute,
But so that ye would come together.
You will have to tell me whether or not you think I was wrong in saying that
the KKK don't understand true Christianity, because that is what your
statement implied.
