Wim, at least you are not in doubt about my opinion of Chomsky. (-:
As for Nicaraguan contras, there's another side to the story. I'm sure
we don't want to waste our time arguing about whether force was
justified in that case. Let me just say that Chomsky was right when he
called Soviet communism a "brutal and tyrannical system." The US
didn't want that system in the Western Hemisphere, and rightly so
IMHO.

But, let's not get bogged down discussing Chomsky. Pirsig is much
more interesting don't you think?
Finally, one of my oldest and dearest friends is a "left-wing radical." So
I don't think of it as a pejorative in the same sense as calling someone
"ignorant, " "glib" or "risible."
Thanks for the reconcilation with Horse. Our sometimes raging
correspondence, besides illuminating diametrically opposing views on
interpreting the MOQ and what to do about the attack on the Trade
Center, is a fine demonstration of game theory where one matches his
opponent's escalation in name-calling. There's good in everything. (-:
