Strangely enough, my translation tool (www.foreignword.com) translates the italian "integralismo" into the english "integralism", just what Marco has done.
Integralists follow a system of beliefs (usually a religion) without having the smallest doubt and without *tolerating* doubt (much less plain different opinions) in others. I hope "tolerant" is an english word; integralist is more or less the opposite (with the additional idea of having a strong faith in your
beliefs). Nowadays and sadly, the word usually goes with "islamic" in the media etc. Berlusconi's anti-leftism is another proficient up-to-date example for italians.
Uhm, I may add that Marco was using the word in a somehow metaphorical sense. Platt writes as if his mission on earth was to support the USA whatever they do however they do it, amen; but I don't think he would sentence me to death just because I am a communist (which isn't literally true, BTW, although both
Platt and Berlusconi could think otherwise). The Inquisition *was*, reportedly, more integralist than Platt.

I'd say an "integralista" is someone who is very convinced of his ideas, and apply it up to the extreme consequences, with no doubts, often without listening carefully the other's points.
