Bo,
a while back you and I were talking about levels. I only remember that you
disagreed with me when I said that it is a mistake to associate
Understanding strictly with the Intellect. I really hope I can talk a bit
with you on this. Lao Tsu said it exactly as I said it once, to understand
is to stand under. It really wowed me to find out that I was not alone in
this thought.
To expand a little, the word 'mind' also is commonly associated with the
Intellect in a strict sense. However, I've never felt this way about it.
And it was a great joy to me when hearing that scientists are now thinking
about the Mind in a more distributed way. They, or some, now think of it as
having it's part all throughout the body. This, at least to me, seems
obvious.
Another word, 'meaning' , must be seen outside the context of Intellect.
Your body minds the food and passes it through your digestive system, it
understands or stands under the nutrients and minerals and disgards the
rest. When you eat a worm or something that is gross to you Intellectually,
it may in fact be fine for you biologically. The body doesn't discriminate
like the brain.
