Dear Colleagues,
Having read several posts today referring to the "Tao" or the "Way", I would concur with those who would equate it with "Dynamic Quality". The Tao might be described as the natural Way in which all elements of the Universe, at all levels, act in harmonic conjunction aware that there is an effect of each action, no matter how apparently insignificant, on everything organic and inorganic. Because of this, Taoists are often wrongly labeled as believers in a predetermined perfect "Way" by some. Nothing could be further from the truth. The Taoist believes in a ever changing, always unknown Universe, which through cause-and -effect constantly improves in value by each action that is performed in humbleness, sincerity, trustworthiness, and compassion - and always with faith in the outcome and non-attachment to it. Alternately, the Universe becomes first more stagnant, then of lesser quality by each action that would seek self-serving or limited improvement with an emphasis on a specific desired outcome. Such outcomes, more often than not, share a kinship with other less desirable outcomes. By looking at it as the Taoist would, we see that the "Way" is a process that operates naturally and will grow in new and exciting directions when acted upon. It is not the intentional effort to create a projected outcome (result) from a series of calculated actions (causes).
Regards,
The Bard
