I don't think that it leads to the conclusion that anything goes. I think what saves it from that is the idea that a reduction in
uncertainty results in an increase in value. Some opinions are better than others, and the measure of their value is the extent to
which they reflect or align with reality. In other words, how useful they are when applied to reality.
Recognising that an idea carries with it some uncertainty does not reduce its value. On the contrary, it increases it. This is
because our attachment to it is less likely to get in the way when a better idea comes along. SQ must eventually give way to DQ,
and the less of a trauma this is, the better for all of us.
Can I be certain about that? Nope, but it will do for now - I've got to get some work done.
