I'll be Wittgensteinian here: what does Pirsig "do"
when he says "Good is a noun." if you stop and give up
your static patterns and "tune" into dynamic quality,
what will you meet? "Good". End of story. To me, that
is what he is "doing" when he says "Good is a noun".
What he is saying is unimportant. What he is showing
is important. Think about it: what if you gave up your
static patterns that generate meaning for you. You've
given up a place you created for your "self." What is
better than that little place? "Good". It's possible
that the world could have been "bad" and it would be
better to "stay" inside our static patterns. BUT, no,
it's "Good" out there, so go. That's what he is
"doing" with his phrase "Good is a noun." It's a
"show" not a "say".
