Wim,

Thanks for sharing your coping tactics for the information flood.

Even if MD/MF remain in their current implementation (this mailing list format
with only MD ____ and MF _____ subject lines) for a long time, I'm sure it will
help many people.. Let's face it, if there were only five people in the community,
there would be none of this frustration and need for coping for the flow.

My only concern is that newer members of the community, or even veterans whose
coping methods cannot keep the flood under control, will soon just leave in
frustration.

That is why I am arguing for embracing computer technology[1] to help automate
some of these coping methods for the benefit of everyone involved. If this
is pursued, your post will not only be valuable for the people who have to
cope right now, but also for the design of a system to keep people from having
to cope. :)

Cheers,

[1] Argh.. Microsoft has tainted the word "embrace" for me now, when used with
computers or technology. My primed brain now plays the annoying mantra "embrace
and extend, embrace and extend" whenever I see those two words together. Ah well.
