MD Good is already a noun

Let me use an analogy here o.k. Let's say I had heard a postmodern writer say
that everything has already been done. I feel a little silly writing a
criticism to him saying his work didn't have anything "new" in it.

“ The material for the MOQ is not something I invented out of thin air. It has
been lying dormant within the culture for centuries. I have mined probably
less than one per cent of what is there. The best readers will pay minimal
attention to what I have found and maximal attention to what I have missed.
That’s where the excitement is.”

I believe Pirsig said he did one thing (expanded), but actually did another
(replaced). As nobody who answered this thread was able to show how Pirsig's
good-noun is related to the good-adj, I stand by this assessment for now.

ERIN My last email was asking you if you can show me where he has claimed to
expand the definition of good? Is it possible that good (N) was something
that was dormant and Pirsig revived it without expanding it? What if good (n)
was unused and un appreciated in comparison to good (adj) (i bet there are
people who don't even know good is a (n)) So is it possible that he
"reconstructed" the definition by putting good (n) as more prominent and
showing this to his readers?

PIRSIG: The best readers will pay minimal
attention to what I have found and maximal attention to what I have missed.
That’s where the excitement is.”

ERIN: if you think that is poor reading maybe you are too caught up in the
what he is telling you and you are missing what he is showing you

I thing something Angus wrote in email the other day would be useful here.
ANGUS But Pirsig has a language game and
it's called Lila. You have to read Pirsig in a post
modern way: he the author is part of the story. So
John I think he is up to date on language games
because he is doing it the right way by "showing" it.
The only rules are his rules and he shows those rules.
But as Wittgenstein says he defines what rules can be
defined and shows what rules that can be shown. He is
walking Occam's razor, and it seems you want more to
the tale than there is.

good is a noun, better is a verb

always a pleasure,
