ERIN: I have found Joseph Campbell's work really interesting too.
As for the Quakers, I don't know a lot either but everything I have heard has

start. I think everybody will have personal beliefs that resemble a "dogma"
but avoiding dogma is avoiding imposing your beliefs on anybody or letting
anybody impose their beliefs on you. Pirsig's point about not needing
anybody to tell you what is good pops to mind. In other words if the only
dogma is trying to reduce dogma I don't see any harm but you are right
"avoiding dogma" can be a static social pattern. I will think about that some
more.
