Erin,
Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain....

PLATT
Would you agree that your statement, "I'm uncertain about absolutes" is
self-contradictory, being an absolutely true statement about your state of
mind regarding absolutes?

RICK:
You're statement is NOT self-contradictory. Platt is playing word games
(whether he thinks he is or not). Notice that Platt slyly snuck the word
'absolute' into his rephrasing of your thought, "...an ABSOLUTELY true
statement...". By doing this, he created the illusion of
self-contradiction. But whether or not truth has to absolute is the issue
in the first place!!! If Platt were trying to accurately represent your
position and not turn it into a sophomoric strawman he would have written
that your statement is "a PROVISIONALLY true statement about your state of
mind regarding
absolutes"... Which is neither self-contradictory, nor illogical.

WILBUR:
> "The postmodern poststructuralists go from saying 'there is no final
> perspective' ('or perspectives are boundless') to saying, 'therefore there
> is no advantage in any perspective over another.'

RICK:
The MOQ also says there is no final perspective. However, unlike the
post-modernists, the MOQ not only acknowledges but clearly thrives on the
notion that some perspectives are better than others.
