So the question is:

Why do societies, in general, value absolutist architects more highly
than the non absolutist? Say an absolutist postmodern architect like
Micheal Graves vs the pattern language guy, Christopher Alexander, who
has very little built work and still supports himself primarily by
teaching ? (Even though he is the only architect ever to receive the
AIA's [American Institute of Architects] highest award, a gold metal,
for architectural philosophy.)

Platt knows the answer even though he might not approve of Graves' work.
