All,
Because this is one of those rare instances that DMB and I seem to
agree, I'll revert to one of my earlier suggestions to fill in the
intellectual [Blank]
Intellect='s [the laws of value]
And rework my characterization of it to this:
The intellectual level's duty, its moral obligation, what it "ought to do",
for itself and the whole is:
1. Use all of its capabilities (reason, logic, intuition, etc) to
continually identify patterns of value at all levels, uncover their
interrelationships, and develop laws that best explain them.
2. Direct the use of this information such that it encourages the levels
to evolve for the greater good all.
3. Primary of these 'greater goods' is freedom and those certain
individual inalienable rights that all have.
4. The nature of laws within a dynamic intellectual system is that to be
"good", they all must be considered provisional.
I think I've integrated most of the suggestions, again have at it to see
where the holes are.

PS: Marco- While I find what you have posted in the "human rights" vein
good, I'm leary of limiting the laws of the intellect exclusively to
'human rights'. It's kind of like my disagreement with Bo. While I will
admit that, 'human rights" just like the subject/object divide was/is a
defining moment and powerful force in the development of the
intellectual level, it's just that neither is expansive nor inclusive
enough to cover all the values of whole level now, let alone future evolutions.
PPS Platt- Jump all over # 4, I included it just to make your day. :-)
