i cannot stand back and poke fun at american culture because it is the dominant culture in australia too. i guess you either start throwing things at the telly or treat it all with the contempt and derision it deserves. i know that i have been taking things too seriously lately - this kind of thing is dangerous. the spirit of seriousness is the enemy of fun, of life. so, dave, have a laugh at it and all those folk that embody this spirit: the self-aggrandizers; the armchair moralists; the realpolitik apparatchiks; the economic rationalists etc etc. taking your self seriously....now that's not fun!
