RICK
On the contrary Rod, I was quoting Pirsig in the precise context in which
his thought was intended.
You were complaining that that forum as a whole seemed STUCK on debating
Pirsig's meaning. I was suggesting that if your were having trouble finding
original thoughts in what goes on here, maybe you should try examining
things closer up... brick by brick... one thread at a time, one member at a
time, one essay at a time... By examining things closer up, you may find
that there's alot more here to lock on to than you thought there was at
first. And that, I believe, is precisely what the quote I gave you said.

ROD
Maybe one of the reasons I feel frustrated is the fog index of this groups
discussions is off the scale!! This may mean I'm missing a lot of what is
actually said!!

RICK
You dismissed my use of a Pirsig quote as 'out of context' when it was not.
I'll bet you've skipped over a dozen original ideas for the same reasons.
If you're missing too much because the fog feels think, you need to slow
down and examine things closer.

thanks for the chat
rick
