Dear Angus,
You wrote 6/4 16:30 -0800 that you are interested in my thoughts on Pirsig's
unfication of pragmatism and radical empiricism. I'm afraid I don't have
much to offer. Not being American neither pragmatism nor radical empiricism
are part of my cultural baggage. If Pirsig says that his MoQ unites both (in
order to enhance its attractiveness to Americans who do have it in their
cultural baggage), I just take note of it. It is his MoQ that appealed to me
and I have no need of separate pragmatism or radical empiricism.
Just a hunch: what about 'let[ting] life lead you ... to fight off "awake"
bad people' or -better still- neutralize them by befriending them because
you didn't let yourself be led by preconceived ideas about them being 'bad'?
With friendly greetings,
Wim
