hey all,
1. it is a good idea to read someone before passing judgement on them. i
don't know how many on this list have actually read chomsky's books (as
opposed to some puerile summaries that may exist in the moronic US media)
but i'd guess that the figure was pretty low.
2. platt, it seems glaringly obvious to me that many of your arguments are
tendentious. you (and several others) are not discussing or arguing but
*debating*. so, so, SOM.
3. chomsky's work is probably caricatured by an american media and
pseudo-intelligentsia that have never read/understood him. this is guesswork
on my part from hearing the laughable corporate media covergae on the
seattle protest in 1999 which mentioned chomsky as an 'extremist' icon for
the anarchists in seattle.
4. i live and work in london. i get on the tube (subway) and go and do a
repetitive office job. i come home and watch telly because i haven't enough
cash or energy to do much else.i will be doing this for only a few months -
to get enough money to travel around europe. what is already and glaringly -
STUPIDLY - obvious is that the overwhelming majority of people here are
bored stupid, seeking refuge from their miserable existences in beer, drugs
and sex.
is this really the best we can do.............?
**those who lack imagination cannot imagine what is lacking**
till next time........
