Lawry and Dan:
Pirsig mentions dreams early in chapter 17, on page 216 of the Bantam
hardback edition. "He had come to think of dreams as Dynamic perceptions of
reality. They were suppressed and filtered out of consciousness by
conventional patterns of static social and intellectual order but they
revealed a primary truth: a value truth." (He dreamed of the social giant as
a hungry cartoon octopus.) And I should add that Pirsig reccomends
Campbell's work on myths, which can be seen as a kind of collective dream,
an expression of a cultures innermost values. In fact, the themes, motifs
and images in dreams are essentially the same as in myths and as the theory
goes, both come from the same source.

Dan, I don't recall a Lila mention, either.
Do MOQers view dreams as being anti-intellectual, or narcisssistic, or
provocative of and an aid to variety and intellect, or are dreams 'neutral'
in the MOQ model?
