ANGUS: Certainty for Wittgenstein is a main issue. See his
book "On Certainty" which he wrote right before he
died. Essentially, certainty is the source of our
freedom.
ERIN: I think I will try and take a look at that book but this is not how I
was intepreting it. I don't think I would equate one or the other being a
source of freedom. I can see certainty being a source in that you don't need
to pay attention to things you feel for certain (free from thinking about
them). I can see uncertainty being a source in that it allows a flexibility
and less likely to lead to things like the Cleveland Harbor Effect.
You can a very little bit of that teacher's ideas from a commencement address
if you are interested. Thanks for the book recomendation.
