I agree with you that the idea of personal freedom or
human rights is more moral than living your life by
ritualized religious dogma. However, isn't it freedom
of religion that allows us to worship Jesus, Muhhamed.
or Pirsig? Besides, the immigration of Muslims to
Europe or any other area of the world does not mean
that Islamic doctrine (and I'm not saying that Islamic
doctrine is inherently anti-gay) will become a
dominant force and detract from intellectual values.

With pleasure! I'm no mullah, but I'm sure if you
studied the Koran and other edicts from Muslim
scholars you could find multiple entries that can be
construed as anti-gay. However, I can also find the
same thing in the Bible and the Torah. Does that mean
every country that values personal freedom should
outlaw Christianity, Judaism and Islam? I'm not saying
it wouldn't be interesting, but I doubt you'll
convince many Christians (whether they believe in the
anti-gay rhetoric or not) that they need to give up
religion for the sake of intellectual values.
Christians and Jews, just like Muslims, pick out the
parts of scripture that they value, and they ignore
the rest by saying "It's in the translation".

In fact, I have been to the United Arab Emirates,
Bahrain, Kuwait, and Indonesia (the largest Muslim
country) and have seen public displays of
homosexuality that would not be permitted in an
anti-gay society. One cab driver in the UAE told a
group of us (with Islamic prayers being wailed from a
nearby tower), "Women are for having children, men are
for having fun". If Islam preaches it, that guy wasn't
practicing it.

You are correct, if there was ever an anti-gay
doctrine to begin with. The immoral act is to deny
admittance just because someone worships Allah and not
God, or worships nothing at all. That is a social
value (admittance based on religious belief)
triumphing over an intellectual value (personal
freedom/freedom to worship).
