Hello Bo,
BO: ZAMM and LILA are often used alternatively to prove different views.
Most often I have relied on LILA because that's the MOQ "vade-
mecum", while ZAMM is the story of how the basic Q-Idea was
conceived and born, but the two works must be harmonized in some
way, and my effort to that goal is that the emergence of SOM (in ZMM)
just as easily can be interpreted as the intellectual level. This epiphany
resulted in my SOLAQI, but another consequence is the one I hinted to
above ...
ERIN:I am not sure I "get" the SOLAQI completely but it seems to be attempt to
embed SOM into MOQ. If this is your attempt, I like it. BUT--
I can't remember where I read it but Pirsig had said something along the lines
that if you are stuck in SOM you are in danger of having one thought for the
rest of your life. I think this is the concern I have about SOLAQI.
I think you need to address Pirisg annotation #41 if you want people to
understand SOLAQI.
PIRSIG: Tis seems to restrictive. It seems to exclude non-subject-object
constructions such as symbolic logic, higher mathematics, and computer
languages from the intellectual level. In fact, the MOQ, which gives
intellectual meaning to the term quality, would also have to be excluded from
the intelelctual level. If we just say the intellect is the manipulation of
the language-derived symbols for experience these problems of excessive
exclusion do not seem to occur.
ERIN: I think the key point is that we have a concept of quality, we can
think about quality.SOLAQI to seems to limit the intellectual level by
dismissing this. Angus suggestion at SOLAQIDQ made sense to me for the same
reason- it seemed like an attempt incorporate SOM and MOQ in the intellectual
level rather then dismissing it as the intellectual level.
BO:"This quandary (that even you said you were uncomfortable with) makes the
intellect even more man-centred and gives the Beasly clique free
ammunition. "
ERIN: huh?I don't see any cliques here (thank god)- (just the occasional
poo-flinging) Any ideas on an MOQ solution to the Beasly-Bo conflict.
Erin
