Dear John B.,

The ladder-climbing metaphor of self has a lot of value for me too. I have
been using is myself in my postings to this list. See for instance my 26/3
0:02 and 27/3 0:23 +0200 postings. I would appreciate if you could point out
where my position on Free Will and Self contradicts it. I DID state (I
think) that the ideas of 'free will' and 'self' (like yours of 'agency')
have considerable value. I just think that the question whether 'free will',
'self' and 'agency' 'really exist' (apart from our experience of valuing the
ideas) is irrelevant or even misleading.
