Good Day Rick.

Yes, where intellect is established as a value to be reckoned with, but first ..
...as I see it all static levels from the inorganic upwards are solid building
blocks that existence must be able to rely on will not shift under it. Looking
backwards: Once a new level established itself the dynamics shifted to the
new level. Matter is not supposed to develop new qualities and Life has
done its act after social value entered existence . Right now Intellect is the
"test laboratory" for DQ. Not that the basic intellectual value will change, but
patterns based on it will evolve to ever greater complexity ...and from here
the lower levels are influenced by the line of command: Intellect-Society,
Society-Biology and Biology-Inorganic (the last is a bit unclear, but I hope for
an epiphany:-)
Now, Pirsig speaks about dynamic intervention starting with the Zuņi
example in chapter 9 and it sounds as if society is directly influenced, but
the Brujo could only do what he did because he had learned to deal with the
white (intellect-dominated) culture (please intellctual 'value', not
'intelligence'). Pirsig points out that som-steeped anthropology "..tried to
show only those aspects of Zuņi culture that were independent of the white
culture" (p.177) and that was not right in his quality view.
In my opinion.
