Hi Erin,

Erin:
At first I was going to suggest that instead of this a map
is/is not a territory that we should be more specific like
a an intellectual map is intellectual territory, etc.

I think this map is not the territory is saying the
intellectual map is not the social, biological and inorganic
territories.

But in your point you say that social map is a map of the social
and lower levels. I haven't really thought about this but
maybe you could expand. Are you saying a level can map lower
levels and itself but not higher levels?

e.g. So a biological map is not the soical or intellectual
territories.

Marco:
Well, I'd say that lower levels are blind to the values of the upper
levels. A germ can't "understand" (map) the value of a social context,
or the value of an idea.

About the map of the same+lower levels, here is an example.
Biologically, we "know" (build maps) that we need water and that we
need food. We learn how to distinguish good water from salty water (map
of the inorganic level) and how to distinguish an edible vegetable from
weed (biological map).

Then, socially, those maps are all available and we add something more.
Example, we can create a market for food/water trading. So we need to
build new maps (example: the rules of the market) and so on....

If I look at all that, I think we *are* in the end these maps, sets of
information, static patterns. That's what I mean by "maps are real".

Erin:
We talk about one level taking sides with other levels and
fighting against other levels so it seems a level would need
a map of the other levels to do this.
In that case we would go into a social map of the intellectual
territory vs an intellectual map of the intellectual territory.

Marco:
Society does not map intellectual values. It just can see the threat
over its values coming from intellect. ...IMHO, of course

Ciao,
Marco
