Oh, I see. No, you're right, its not that you'd jump straight to teaching
calculus to kids, you'd teach them whatever they need know to get them to
thinking without the problems. For instance, the secularization of the
public realm since the Enlightenment has meant that people in public
schools no longer get theology because the Enlightment fathers decided
that, as a culture, religion in the public realm caused to many problems.
So, they leave it to the private realm, and an alternative is taught to
replace what theology provided them. If there were a problem with the S/O
distinction, presumably we'd teach them whatever alternative we had, step
by step.
