Hi John,

JOHN:

for not coming back.

PACO:
Ouch! First you wouldn't let Platt and me come over
to your house for the pajama party, and now you
besmirch my reputation (or at least you would have if I
had one). I guess it makes sense though, since David's
argument was somewhat of an extension of one that you
alluded to a few months ago -- namely that the US
society is deficient in intellectual (higher) values.

Just to clarify, my response was disagreement
accompanied with specific refutation (which David
accepted and then used to change the argument in a
direction which I agreed in principle but not in extent
or one-sidedness). My outrage (which was shared by
others, including the site moderator) was with Squonk,
David and other's general level of argumentation (name
calling) and with David's attempt to disparage the
accuracy of my characterization of his position. After
I backed up my characterization with direct quotes from
his posts, he again dropped the issue. I was however
guilty of being ridiculously sarcastic throughout the
exchange. (but I meant the smooches)

Sam then saved us all and took the discussion to a much
higher level with a wider perspective on Conservatism.
Perhaps you or David would like to address it?

Paco

PS -- Sometimes I think you guys believe I am a card-
carrying conservative.
